If you know Ballard, you know what a terrific place it is. If you don’t know Ballard, allow us to introduce you. Ballard is a classic neighborhood with a 100 year old history of boats, fishing and Scandinavian attitude. Over 100 years ago, Ballard businesses draped themselves in black to protest annexation to Seattle. Although annexation happened anyway, the neighborhood is still proud of its independent and small town feel, even though it is only 10 minutes from Downtown Seattle. It’s a great place for walking and socializing. Market Street and Old Ballard Avenue thrive today with every business imaginable from boutique restaurants to mom and pop hardware stores.
